We specialize in drywall repairs to ceiling and walls and texture blending to their pre-loss condition.
Stain blockers are pigment shellac that is used to seal water stains. Although a stain blocker will cover the stain it is not a porous substance. When a texture primer (the bonding agent) is applied to the ceiling it results in flashing around the stain which is visible to the eye. This is because the area does not absorb the products in the same way as the unaffected area.
We have chosen to use a flat white, low odor oil paint instead of a stain blocker and have found only one paint manufacturer to actually carry a product that we recommend.
